PROSPECT BOND PROJECT VOTE. TUES. March 15th ABGS Middle School

"PROSPECT BOND PROJECT"

$0 increase to tax payers.

Supported by NYS Deputy Speaker Earlene Hooper, Mayor Wayne Hall Sr., Dep. Mayor Henry Conyers, and many more...

On Tuesday March 15th, 2011Hempstead School District will hold a vote for the "Prospect School Bond Project"
at the ABGS Middle School ONLY, 70 Greenwich St, Hempstead NY from (7am-9pm)

The final cost to do this project will have "NO INCREASE IN TAXES TO TAX PAYERS". So basically you are getting a renovation, remodeling, elimination of environmental hazards, state of the art facility for FREE! We would be able to save the community approximately $600,000 a year in leases of two buildings which we receive $0 in state aid to occupy if this passes.

But, If this does not pass "WE WILL LOSE" our Excel Aid to help fund this project and another school district will receive the aid. Attached find a copy of the flyer w all of the information about how it's funded the aspects of the project, etc. Please share with all Hempstead residents.

On March 15th, voting for this project will be at the ABGS Middle School (ONLY) 70 Greenwich Street, Hempstead NY 11550. on Tuesday March 15th, 2011 from (7am-9pm). "YOUR VOICE IS YOUR VOTE". If you have any questions you can e-mail me info@brandonvray.com, If you can volunteer to help spread the word please let me know as well.

Also please don't forget Village Trustee Elections are the same day. I encourage you to go to the ABGS Middle School for the $0 tax increase Prospect Bond Project Vote and then go to your local Polling site to cast your vote for Hempstead Village Trustees as you can vote for up to two seats. Voting should not be taken for granted.

FIRST DAY OF THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR

Hello

Today begins the first day of the children of the Hempstead Public School district. We hope for this school year to be one of HOPE, LOVE and POSSIBILITIES. A school year where we are optimistic about the opportunities for our children. A school year where we embrace our diversity as our greatest strength.

Like the song says Our children truly are the future and we must teach them well and let them lead the way. But without vision, love and hope we merely are going to attain the status quo and the status quo in Hempstead is NO MORE. We are going to set the bar high not only for our children but for our administration, staff, teachers, parents, board and ourselves. We cannot demand better of others unless we demand better of ourselves.

Our children only have ONE shot at a quality education. Let's get it right the first time. Let's work together for our children, let's work together for our FUTURE. If you are able to volunteer anytime to tutor, mentor or work with our children in the Hempstead Public School District please e-mail me at bray@hempsteadschools.org and I will forward it to the right channels. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Hempstead completes "Moving Up/Graduation Ceremonies"

Since last week and concluding today I have had the honor to see the children of the Hempstead Public School District graduate from their respective schools. Graduation does not mean completion but it means moving on to the next stage in your life. As long as your are graduating to the next stage in your life and not moving backwards then that is progress. Progress is even a slow process.

I have seen students in Pre-K state that they are "THE WORLD'S GREATEST" to today seeing the Hempstead High School Class of 2010 reflect on their journey together as a class and as individuals. 10 Years ago I was that student graduating Hempstead HS to now 10 years later graduating Howard University, CUNY Baruch College as a National Urban Fellow to now being elected as a member of the Hempstead Public Schools Board of Education. Now matter how far we move forward we must not forget where we come from. We must reach back and pull forward.

Myself, my colleagues on the board and the entire community are very proud of all of our graduates. Here in Hempstead we have Caleb Canas who is a Bill Gates Millennium Scholar going to Harvard University and Johnathan Nino a Northrup Grumman Scholar going to University of Pennsylvania. Both HEMPSTEAD graduates (not Uniondale, Garden City, or anywhere else) but here in HEMPSTEAD and to not celebrate these accomplishments would be wrong.

The message I want to send to them and the entire HHS Class of 2010 is that you are not just representing you, you are representing your community. Don't just walk in the door and let it close, leave it cracked open so that those who graduated from Pre-K, ECC, Marshall, Fulton, Franklin, Barack Obama, Jackson Main & ABGS can have the same opportunity you are having right now. Enjoy the present, strive for a bright future and but always honor the past. I'm very proud of you all and Hempstead is very proud of you all as well. Congratulations!!!

With All My Love I remain....

THANK YOU!

I just wanted to take a few moments to say THANK YOU for allowing me to continue to serve as Trustee of the Hempstead Public Schools Board of Education and win my first ever election. The Road to Recovery is a hard road but with INTEGRITY, LOVE AND the WILL to want to succeed then the promise for our children is possible. We must look at ourselves from within and ask one question, WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THE SYSTEM BETTER?

I ask for your continuous prayers and to continue to look at my website for updates on forums, school activities. Again, thank you and let's move Hempstead and the Hempstead Public School System forward.
